| This 3 hour tour is in Little Sarasota Bay and is an easy paddle with a great variety of things to see. It is a wonderful place to observe many types of birds and marine life found here in Sarasota. The trail loops through the Jim Neville Preserve, a 35 acre habitat well known for it's birding and kayaking. You learn about mangroves, oysters, sea grasses and we even spend some time at a beautiful vista overlooking the Gulf. This is a great place to swim, stop for a short snack, or look for dolphins or sting rays. We may see several manatees if the water is warm. If you love birdwatching, you may see Bald Eagles, Brown Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, Anhinga, Cormorants, Ospreys, Great White Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Kingfishers, Wood Storks, White Ibis, Night Herons, Yellow Crowned Herons or Rosate Spoonbills. Bring your binoculars and camera. We'll keep some distance away so they are not disturbed, but you'll see a large variety of bird life here. Depending on the time of day, you may see raccoons foraging, dolphins in the Gulf or Intra-coastal Waterway, and mullet jumping around the kayaks. The preserve is a jewel maintained by Sarasota County, and we are lucky it is here. This tour is offered at a lower price than others are charging, and we give you more personal attention. We want you to enjoy the tour, and recommend us to your friends. Easy Kayaking usually uses touring kayaks instead of the short recreational kayaks often used in Sarasota. Touring kayaks are higher quality, safer and paddle much easier then recreational kayaks. And we usually take 3-4 people on the tour, never more than 6-8 people per guide. This ensures that you'll be able to hear the guide and he'll be near if you need him. We don't send you on a "tour" with dozens of other kayakers, all paddling just to keep sight of the tour guide. If you'd like to take the tour, just contact us, or go ahead and reserve it at the Payments page. We'll launch from Vamo Dr. in Sarasota. Please call ahead of time to reserve this tour and handle all details prior to arriving at the launch site. |
